CareNote + ParishSoft: A New Integration for Catholic Parishes
A few weeks before Easter, we received a call from a parish secretary in Kentucky. Her priest had heard about CareNote and wanted to know one thing: “Can it connect with ParishSoft?”
At the time, the answer was no. CareNote didn't yet support integration with ParishSoft, the software many Catholic parishes use to manage families and parishioner records. But we've built CareNote by listening closely to churches and building what they need. So we offered a simple proposal: If your parish signs up for a one-year subscription, we'll build the integration. The priest agreed—and we got to work.
After speaking directly with the ParishSoft team, including their Vice President of Software, we charted a path forward. Each parish needs its own API key (a $200 purchase from ParishSoft), but once that API key is secured, the rest is straightforward. CareNote now supports direct integration with ParishSoft.
Here's how it works: enter your ParishSoft API key and organization ID into CareNote, click "Start Import," and your families and parishioners—along with their contact information—are automatically imported into CareNote. Everything is organized, searchable, and ready for your care team to begin assigning visits, tracking updates, and coordinating ministry.
Because ParishSoft doesn't yet support real-time webhooks for announcing new members, we've also built a background sync tool. It periodically checks for updates from ParishSoft and keeps your CareNote records aligned.
This integration makes life easier for parishes—especially those with limited staff. One priest and one secretary managing two parishes is a common reality in Catholic ministry today, and CareNote was built with that kind of reality in mind. Instead of juggling emails, sticky notes, and spreadsheets, churches can now rely on a system that keeps all their care activity in one place.
